What happened to the days of "may I please be excused"? I want those days back!
The simpler times, the slower times. The times when family mattered and respect was shown for all...
Nowadays, no one has time for the "please's and thank you's" they are more into the "gimme's" :o( ahh what a sad time it is...
Parents don't even seem to have enough time to inSIST that their children have manners and subsequently... "do the right thing"! well... i have one thing to say to that... THEY NEED TO MAKE THE TIME!
A friend of mine posted a great article this AM on etiquette...
Etiquette is not only “please and thank you,” proper table manners, and good posture....far from it. We practice etiquette to live civilly among each other and grant people the respect that they deserve. Far too often in our well-meaning desire to teach our kids traditional manners, we neglect to impart upon them those social skills that elevate them to a more refined, sensitive, and compassionate level of being.
It is not sufficient to simply possess flawless, “by the book” manners, children must understand the impact that their behavior has on themselves and on others. It is not okay to enter adulthood deficient in those crucial skills that make us aware of the bearing that we have on the rest of society. By teaching children some common sense skills we can stave off self-centeredness, egocentricity and narcissism and encourage understanding and sensitivity towards others.
Here are some rules that everyone needs to live more productively and more efficiently.
One: Mind Your Own Business.
Two: Your emergency is not my priority.
Three: I quit!
Four: Confidence versus competence.

Manners matter. Plain and simple. Moms, Dads, when you are feeling that you have clearly had enough and you want to just cave into the "can I can I huh huh huh's" and ignore the simple rules of etiquette, know there are many other parents out there that are just as tired, just as frustrated, and if we ban together and commit to going that extra mile for our kids, we can truly make a difference in the lives of our children, hence, securing our own future...
Thanks for taking the time and know that we truly do secure our future... one child at a time!
